About · शून्य
We begin at zero
Not emptiness — the fertile void that holds every possible outcome.

Shunya is the Sanskrit word for zero — and the origin of infinity.
SHUNYA is a creative production house built on a simple conviction: the most powerful stories in India are the ones that have not been told at scale yet, and most of them live in the East and the Northeast.
We are IP-led rather than service-led. Every project is conceived as an intellectual property asset with multi-channel monetisation designed in from the first draft — festivals, OTT, broadcast, education, licensing and beyond.
Incubated under XCITE at XLRI, the enterprise is run with the governance, transparency and financial discipline of a business, and the standards of an artist-led studio.
Vision
To become a globally recognised creative enterprise from Northeast India — one that proves world-class cinema can be authored from the periphery without ever asking permission from the centre.
Mission
To create world-class content and intellectual property that celebrates the culture, people and landscapes of East & Northeast India — while building a sustainable, ethical creative economy for the region.
Storytelling as craft
Northeast India as vantage
Creative economy as engine
Global impact as ambition
Ethical entrepreneurship as spine
IP-driven business
Every project is built as an intellectual property asset — with multi-channel monetisation baked in from the first draft.
Global storytelling
Culturally rooted, universally readable. Cinema that crosses borders without diluting where it came from.
Professional governance
Incubated under XCITE–XLRI. Ethical, transparent, and built to scale.
Creative excellence
National Award winners and international festival veterans shape every frame we release.
Business discipline
Artist-led, entrepreneur-run. We optimise for both cultural resonance and financial durability.
Cultural authenticity
Told by the people whose stories they are. Nothing about the region without the region.
